Tile work:
This is the first pictures I have taken of tile work. This is a new home with
white walls throughout. The client wanted to add some color and texture to their
kitchen but didn't want the expense of new cabinets, or counters. So we decided
to add some flair to the backsplash above the Formica backsplash.
This first set of pictures are before anything was done. It may be had to see
but the whole house interior walls are spider textured. Some call it knockdown.
These are just thumbnails. If you want to see more

Here is a before

Here is a closer look |

Now we move onto some prep work. First we have to tape off and protect the
existing counters so we don't get the mess all over them. I padded the floor
also to be safe.
|

A small amount of time spent here can save a mess.
|

The glue showing where the stove goes is not my doing. Builders
can be sloppy when they know it will be hidden. Shame on them. |

Now we can remove the texturing on the areas to be tiled.
This is necessary to give us a good solid wall to bond to. If I didn't
remove this texture the weight of the tile and thinset would pull this
texture off the wall and the tiles would of course come along for the ride.

Here is the start of removal. |

All around the room. |

Every bit of texture is gone. |

Not a pretty sight but necessary. |

And now we see the finished product. The tiles are done, the grout is in and
the tiles and group are sealed with two coats of sealer especially made for
terrazzo stone tile.
If you have a tile job please keep me in mind. I will do a beautiful job for
you.
