My first You Tube video
I have had this on You Tube for some time and figured I’d add it to the blog. It is a kitchen makeover we did last year. It was a fun project with help from the customer. His design was extremely good.

Oops I missed a few days. With the Holidays at hand I haven’t found the time to write.
Anyway…
The tile is in the shower completed yesterday. It took my 2 days, well a day and a half to set the 3″ x “6″ tiles Allot of tiles in the shower. Today we plan on grouting them. While Bobby does the grout I will be installing the cabinets. Also we got the room primed and painted. The bathroom is shaping up nicely. Starting to look like a room as apposed to a work site.
If I don’t get back before… Have a Merry Christmas. Stay safe and drive carefully.

Today we installed the sheet rock on the new wall and the others that were opened up due to the mold and plumbing moves. But first I installed the new toilet. Although it will need to come out again for the floor I knew the clients missed that being off the master bedroom. Funny how you get use to things.
The rock went in flawlessly, got the first coat of mud on and finished the inside (shower side of a corner bead with thinset. I don’t like attaching tile to any drywall mud. Just doesn’t sit right in my mind.
Monday I will apply the second coat of mud to the drywall and maybe install a new light / exhause fan.
Have a great week end.

Today we had a short day. The client had new cleaning people in and we were out by noon. We did hang Duroc in the shower and taped and mudded the seams. All set for tile. Only problem was that the tile is going to take some time to get here. So tomorrow we will move on to sheet rock and getting the rest of the bathroom ready for the cabinets, sink etc. I will temporarily install the new toilet tomorrow to save the client some night time travel down the hall.

Today was a good day on this remodel. I finished up the framing for the new wall. Finished up the shower pan drain. The pan setup nicely in the cement. We replaced the insulation that was removed. I changed the shower valve moving it up just a tad. And moved up the shower head to a better height. Put 6mil sheet plastic as a water barrier on the shower area and built out the stud 1/4″ to align with the shower pan. Tomorrow will be Duroc and mud. Then ready for tiling the shower.
Thanks for reading.

On Friday we rerouted the drain for the shower pan. Filled in the hole with sand, sand mix concrete, and cold patch where the drain pipe runs so it can be repaired or moved again if need be. We let it set over the week end and went in Monday to set the Shower Pan. All went well, we used 3 bags making 6 piles of cement so the pan would settle in nicely. All level and waiting to setup. I went ahead and built the third wall of the shower area. Just rough framed but all set. We won’t get back there until Wednesday. I want the pan to be good and solid so we can cover it. And we won’t have to worry about it getting kicked or disturbed.
Thats it for today.

We are starting a new project in the next few days and I thought it would be good for Handy Home Tips if I jotted some progress notes as we go.
First we have done the Demo. Removed basically everything from the bathroom to be remodeled which leave me with a blank canvas.
The corner shower had leaked for some years. The sheet rock behind the tile was like a soaking sponge. Filled with Black mold. Smelled pretty bad too. Anyway that’s all removed and at the dump.
I am waiting for a special order shower pan before I can move the drain and build a new wall to enclose the new shower. A fairly large pan 46″ x 60″ replacing a 45″ square one. This corner “Neo” showers seem to always leak. The new one will be tiles walls, and a standard 60″ opening. Suitable for a sliding door or shower curtain.
The vanities have been taken out along with the toilet. New cabinets, sinks, and toilet on order. I will build the counter top L shaped on site. The client want Formica.
I have run new outlets to be used for each of the two new sinks. There will be three bar lights replacing the cans in place at the moment. I will also build two mirror frames to match the cabinets.
So right now we are on hold waiting for th pan. Can’t move ahead until that comes in. Everything will revolve on it.
Till next writing..
